The china based tech giant Xiaomi, which excels in providing quality products at nominal prices turns 5 this April 8th and has decided to treat us all to a new array of products. The most notable of these products IMHO is the whooping 55 inch tv which is equipped with a monster sound-bar and a bluetooth sub-woofer . The Mi TV 2 sports a display with a 4K resolution, it has a tentative price of 4999 RMB (~ 806 USD) is both thinner (15.2 mm ) and bigger than the previous iterations.
Other notable releases barring the Mi TV 2, include a smart scale which by all appearances is a companion to the Mi-band strengthening the fitness game for the company . Mi smart scale will be available at 99 RMB (~16 USD) and can track fitness stats for upto 16 people. Its worth noting that both it’s main competitors the FitBit Aria and the Withings Wireless Scale retail at ~$120-150.
The power strip and The pink version of the mi-note are other notable inclusions . The power strip includes 3 usb ports with quick charge technology built-in .
The Redmi 2A was also announced but we’ve covered that in detail earlier.
Will the Mi TV 2 and others see the light of day in markets outside China? Do the wireless scale and power strip seem like great accessories to be sold at Xiaomi’s new store in the US? We don’t have the answers now but stay tuned and we’ll let you know as and when we know more…
